Exotic Female Piercings
From LoveToKnow Tattoos
The piercing and tattoo world is vast with many new ways to express your love of the art; for the daring and adventurous woman exotic female piercings may be in your cards.
What Exactly is an Exotic Piercing
The term exotic can mean a lot of things to a lot of different people, especially in the world of piercing. A person who has never had so much as an ear punctured may consider a cartilage or surface piercing to be exotic, and genital piercings utterly crazy. Then again, someone who is an avid piercer wouldn’t blink an eye at getting a belly button, a nose ring or labret piercing. With that in mind, even a genital piercing may not be considered unique by some.
Professional piercers, the majority of them anyway, consider genital piercings to fall in to the realm of exotic, not necessarily the piercing itself but the manner in which it is pierced. The pain is typically more severe and the risk much higher when you begin to pierce more sensitive areas of the body. The thought behind these piercings, and the reason why many people get them done, is that they enhance sexual stimulation.
Exotic female piercings can consist of:
- The nipples
- The areola
- The labia
- The clitoral hood
Those who are new to piercing may also believe that multiple piercings are exotic especially those that create designs or patterns out of piercings be them in the eyebrow, stomach or genital area. Many people are using their bodies as a canvas for piercing art.
Why Get Exotic Piercings
There are many reasons why someone would want to get an exotic piercing. As mentioned above, some people are using their bodies as a canvas. They want to show that piercing, like tattooing, is a real art form that is always changing. Other reasons include wanting to stand out and to be an individual. There is also the possibility of the individual being involved in a slave/dominatrix lifestyle.
A Listing of Regularly Performed Female Exotic Piercings
Christina: A vertical piercing is placed through the V shape junction at the top of the outer labia that comes out slightly above the pubic area. This piercing is a fairly unpopular choice due to its healing time as well as anatomical criteria and its limitations.
Clitoris: Not readily recommended due to the high sensitivity of the area as well as anatomical issues such as size of clitoris and the possible interference of the piercing with the hood. It can be pierced vertically and horizontally with a barbell or a captive bead ring.
Fourchette: This piercing is placed over the perineum at the bottom of the vaginal opening. You would need an extra flap of skin (which many women don’t have) in order to get this piercing done. This piercing is unpopular because the skin is very weak and can be torn easily with normal movement and can lead to severe pain during intercourse. For those willing to get this piercing, a 10 or 12 gauge curved barbell or captive bead ring is suggested.
Horizontal clitoral hood: One of the more popular choices for genital piercings as many find it to be a fairly attractive look and the extra sensitivity (assuming the area is perfectly suited anatomically otherwise it just looks nice). The piercings is done while standing up and your piercer will be able to tell you if you are more suited for a vertical or horizontal piercing.
Vertical clitoral hood: This is the easiest, most stimulating, fastest healing and least painful of genital piercings, assuming you have the right anatomy for it, which your piercer can determine. The jewelry is placed in the hood tissue above the clitoris and rests easily on the clitoris and moves naturally with the body.
Inner labia: Not as painful as the outer labia this piercing is just as pleasing sexually as it is aesthetically. These piercings are quick and easy and heal fairly fast.
Outer labia: This piercing is more painful than the inner labia and can be done as a single or multiple piercing on either side. Not as popular as the inner labia due to the high rate of skin rejection and the irritation that can be caused by sweat and clothing.
Triangle: One of the most unique and technical of piercings. Anatomy plays a big part in this piercing as well, as you'll need enough skin to pull away from the clitoral area. The jewelry is placed below the clitoral hood behind the clitoris.
