Free Tattoo Flash

From LoveToKnow Tattoos

Free tattoo flash can serve as an inspiration for your creative expression, helping you decide on a certain style of design or a particular genre of image, be it tribal, dolphins, or crosses, that best fits your personality. While you could walk into any given tattoo parlor and simply pick a piece of free tattoo flash off the walls, if you truly want to individualize your expression, you may want to customize it.

That said, there are so many free tattoo flash designs out there freely available on the web that even if you pick the exact same flash art as someone else, it's more likely that it will be someone halfway across the country rather than someone in your own hometown.

There are several websites where you can look for free tattoo flash art. While the free stuff won't come with a physical stencil for you to bring in to your favourite local tattoo artist, it typically does include the two primary components of traditional flash art: a simple line drawing for the basic outlines of the design and a full color version showing particular color arrangements and combinations that the original artist believes best accompanies that particular design.

Websites with Free Tattoo Flash

There are countless websites that offer free (or low-priced) tattoo flash. Here are but a small handful to get you started on your inking journey:

  • Inksling doesn't have the largest collection out there, but the website does cover a number of different genres and styles, including tribal, skulls, fantasy, and "chick." On this website, you can also purchase many of the supplies and machines that you may need. Bear in mind that the free tattoo flash offered on Inksling is licensed for your own personal use only, so don't let anyone catch you selling their designs or otherwise using them for any commercial purposes.
  • TribalShapes.com - Despite its name, TribalShapes.com does not restrict itself to tribal-style tattoo flash, though it does make up the majority of this website's free collection. Among the rest of the designs, you'll find animals, flowers, and Japanese Kanji, but what you'll really be interested in are the cool Tribal-inspired designs featuring mythological creatures, celestial bodies, and tribal hearts. Arm band enthusiasts will find quite a bevy of choices as well.
  • Body Art Web is a rather amateur-ish looking website, but the seven tattoo artists found within have got some rather wicked flash art designs, all of which are available absolutely free of charge. The collection is small but worthwhile.
  • Flash2xs may look more like a store than a place to get free stuff (really, they are), but they do host a monthly contest in which tattoo artists from all over the world submit their work. These submissions become free for you to use! When you hit up their website, check out the navigation panel on the left and click on "Free Flash." There you'll find several submissions, organized by month.

Where Else To Look

Getting free tattoo flash isn't particularly difficult. You just have to be persistent when it comes to coming up with a design that you can not only live with but one that you will love forever. If you live near a major city, there is a good chance that a tattoo convention may come your way. While you're over at the tattoo parlor, chat up the people involved as they are usually "in the know" when it comes to exhibitions, trade shows, and the like.

Better yet, be completely creative and unique: design your own tattoo, or come up with an original concept and have a professional artist flesh it out for you. This way, you can be reasonably certain that no one else on the face of this planet will have a tattoo quite like yours.
