Free Tattoo Patterns
From LoveToKnow Tattoos
Looking for free tattoo patterns? You've come to the right place. Our guide will tell you where to find your (free!) inspiration for your first—or next—tattoo.
Finding Free Tattoo Patterns
Of course your best bet for free tattoo designs will be the Internet. A simple Google search will give you plenty of hits to sift through, looking for the ones that are actually free—and the ones that have the perfect picture of the tattoo you're dying to get. Here are a few to look through:
- Tattoo Job lists not only main categories, but subcategories, as well. Their selection is huge, so you should be able to find either exactly what you're looking for or something close enough to easily be tweaked to match the image in your mind. Categories include: animals, tribal, religious, Celtic, biker, band, astrology, and more.
- Tattoo 3 Designs offers another wide selection of free tattoo images. There's even a category for classic sexy girl tattoos. In addition, you'll find fairy tattoos, Chinese symbols, armbands, dragons, aliens, and more.
- Free Tattoo Designs (.biz) is a blog that features free tattoo designs, too. On this site, you can find your next tattoo pattern, chat with other members, and leave comments for the owner of the blog. There's even a section about tattoo removal.
- Tattoo Designs Free gives you a brief history on the art of tattoos as well as—you guessed it—free tattoo designs. Choose from Chinese designs, fairy tattoos, butterflies, tattoos designed specifically for the lower back, and more.
- Free Tattoo Designs (.org) offers more than just free inspiration. There's free education, as well. Their motto is "Think before you ink," and they make sure to give you the information necessary to determine whether a tattoo means exactly what you think it means.
- Tattoo Spot is initially harder to read than many other tattoo sites, but once there you won't be sorry. You can choose from a large number of categories, including Kokopelli designs, Irish designs, lower back designs, scorpions, and more.
- TDDI has both free tattoos and tattoos available for $1.90 per download. Their assortment of tattoos includes those shown on skin as well as simple patterns for you to print. They have forty-two design categories total, including wolf, Tinkerbell, Japanese, rose, and skull tattoos.
- Tribal Shapes has a selection of tribal and Kanji symbols available for free. Choose from categories like arm bands, animals, celestial shapes, mythological, evil creatures, and more. You can see a large view of the tattoo before you decide to save it or print simply by clicking on the appropriate thumbnail.
- Chopper Tattoo makes you jump through a few hoops to get a membership, but the membership is free. Once completed, you'll have access to a gallery of award winning tattoo designs. The tattoos are categorized and all you have to do to get yours is print out the image and take it to your tattoo parlor of choice. Don't have one? No problem, there's also a tattoo parlor locator.
- Free Tattoo Patterns Online offers a limited number of designs, plus information on tattoo guidelines and laws.
A Word of Caution
If you do decide to print something from a tattoo design site that is not listed as free, your tattoo could be protected under copyright laws. That means you could get your tattoo artist in loads of trouble if he or she uses it. Check with the site to make sure you're not printing out something that it is not okay to use freely. Artists work hard on their designs. While some will put their work up for free, others prefer to charge for it and it's only right (and legal) to respect their wishes.
Also, on using free tattoo patterns, some will argue that you "get what you pay for." However, in many cases, the tattoo designs are very nice.

Scorpion Tattoo For obvious reasons, the venomous scorpion has long been associated with deadly menace, aggression, and the ever-present capability to kill. Although in mythology it sometimes exacts righteous vengeance, the scorpion's role is usually one of bringing death. But, like the deadly serpent, its very power also made it magical and gave it the ability to heal.
