Gemini Zodiac Tattoos
From LoveToKnow Tattoos
Gemini zodiac tattoos - these representations of the "twins" are popular among many people born under this astrological sign.
The Astrological Sign of Gemini
If you were born between the dates of May 22 and June 23, you are considered to "be" a Gemini - that is, you were born under the astrological sign known as Gemini. When most people refer to astrology in the United States, they are referring to the Western form of the zodiac, although there are other forms - most notably Indian and Chinese.
The astrology term Gemini takes its name from the constellation Gemini, which is found in the winter sky, near the constellation Taurus. The description and alternate name for the constellation is also "The Twins".
Gemini Traits
While many people profess not to believe in astrology, due to its roots in pseudoscience, others feel that many of the ways that astrological profiles can explain a person's behavior are quite accurate. Some people who believe in astrology point to the fact that the "science" has been used since Greek and Roman times.
The sign Gemini has been associated with the Greek god Hermes, and also the Greek twin gods Apollo and Artemis. The dual nature of the Gemini has led astrologers to ascribe such traits as mercurial and restless to Geminis, as well as two faces and variable personalities. Positive traits include the fact that Geminis are known for their ability to adapt well to different situations, are intelligent and brave, social and lively. On the other end of the spectrum, some of the negative Gemini traits include being too indecisive, nervous and inconsistent to get things done.
Gemini Zodiac Tattoos
Although Geminis may be indecisive and wanting variety in their lives, many still choose to get a constant reminder of their sign in Gemini zodiac tattoos. Picking just which image will represent this astrological sign, however, is not an easy task. The symbolism available for "the twins" is quite varied.
Different Colors
One of the more unique traits of the Gemini is their affinity for more than one special color. Unlike some signs, where blue may ring true or red could be the magic shade, rainbows are special for Geminis, as well as the individual colors of yellow, white and red.
Flowers, Too
Most zodiac signs have a special flower that is associated with their sign, and Gemini is no exception. The beautiful rose is the flower that is known for being seen along side the Gemini symbol. Roses are the perfect flower for tattoos, and are easy to find in any tattoo shop. With a few quick modifications, a piece of tattoo flash including a rose can easily become many different custom Gemini zodiac tattoos.
Related Gemini Symbols
While not exactly the same as the Gemini astrological sign, both the Indian and Chinese zodiac have corresponding portions of their cycles that match up with the Gemini segment of the Western zodiac. In the Chinese zodiac, this portion of cycle matches with Horse. This animal could be another good image to add to your zodiac tattoo - for a different spin on the Gemini experience.
Astrological Tattoo Ideas
Stuck on which direction to go in for your Gemini tattoo? Try combining a few of the different ideas that are available to you within the Gemini realm. You can also use lettering and the astrological symbol for Gemini itself. If nothing strikes you as special, perhaps something a bit different is in order. Birth charts, which can be composed by astrologists from the date, time and place of your birth, can give you a clearer picture of your astrological sign. You may even wish to get a tattoo combining elements of your sun sign and moon "sign", both of which influence your astrological profile. Above all, be creative, and have fun!
