Hi Be Tattoo'd,

I appreciate your opinion, but I do want to point out that the first sentence of the articles states "Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) may be at the root of some of the more overwhelming transformations..." I don't think the writer was trying to say that all people who enjoy multiple tattoos and/or piercings are suffering from BDD. Just wanted to point that out. :)

-Personally I dont understand how you can say tattooing is a form of BDD. Sorry to come off as rude but you need to update on your history knowledge. The forst form of tattooing was natives, so a travler could tell the natives rank among his tribe, also tattooing in some african cultures, was a right of passage to adult hood believing that their tattoo was spiritual and would bring them great luck once married. Also tattooing was the first medical form of acupuncture, by playing small dots on the body to make where the pin / needle should be placed in order to get the desired results, for pain. Also in ancient Egypt women where tattooed as a sign of high beauty and some mummies were studied to show that many more women then men had tattoos. Im sorry But I believe that you stating that extream tattooing and piercing as a form of BDD.
