The general rule of thumb for body piercings is: If you can pinch it you can pierce it! We are the only species in the world who modify their bodies for self adornment :D

Ben: 3 months is standard healing time, it could be that one is taking longer than the other, have you been cleaning with hot sea salt soaks as these will pull out anything trapped behind the bar - which there sounds like there might be. Is it swollen, are the balls on either side digging in? If the balls are digging in you may not have a long enough bar and this could be causing the pain. The swelling can be helped with Ibuprofen, hot sea salt soaks and ice cubes.

It is best not to use neosporin on the piercing as it is too strong chemically, try tea tree or lavender oil (dilute if you have sensitive skin and test before you use to make sure you're not allergic) as these are both antiseptics too. The most important thing to do at the moment is to NOT take out the bar as this could trap any infection you might have under the skin causing severe problems.

Ben, I would see a doc. You should be healed by now. Try using Neosporin to reduce the risk of infection. This area may be sensitive and the pain indicates potential infection that requires treatment. Good luck!

I got my nipples pierced about 3 months ago, one has healed quite well but the other is taking alot longer. it seems that there is an infection it is swollen and hard behind the piercing and is more sensitve then useual to touch( abit painfull) i went through alota pain for these and idont want to have to take it out! what can i do to fix this? Is it serious?

I just got my belly button done about 3 weeks ago an at the top hole its still really red an im like kind of freaking out i been cleaning it an everything an sugestions on what i could do?

i have 12 at the moment... 6 on my ears, a surface piercing down the side of one of them, my tongue (which i love), my belly button, nipple, and two anchors just under my collar bone (one each side)...and i'm trying to think of some more... any ideas anyone? i had me lip done, but the rents went awol... :0S

I have total of 18 piercings.. Spider bites (2 lip) 2 Guages and 14 earrings. And I just got my industrial done. I clean it extremely well. But Im wondering.... Is such thing as too clean? I pull my ear just little forward and I clean it I make sure I really get in there. But now... My EAR, EAR inside of it hurts pretty bad rather than the piercing.

Anyone got suggestions?

Have had the centre lip piercing for 9 years, and today got the left side of my lip pierced. I love it!! takes my piercing total to 11 (9 in my ears - 2 stretched to 6mm, and 2 lip piercings). Yay!

i only have my lip pierced on the right side and i would love to get more..im obsessed with piercings but no matter how old my parents will basically disown me..they didn't even know about my lip for almost a year and when they found out they tried to tell me to take it out..i just dont wear it around them..but the other thing is that i want to go into modeling and i fear that with a lot of body modifications they will reject me..i want tattoos and piercings all over but im afraid of what it will do to my future..and my family..

There are 4 simple rules for having a good looking pierce:

Go to a decent studio! if it looks dirty then it most likely will be! Don't touch with dirty hands actualy DO the aftercare! if your life style interferes with the pierce and may result in dirt in the wound or the piercing getting knocked: don't get the piercing.

To molly x: sweaty, as a piercer i have done many female nipple pierces. the nipple can reject the jewelery and that does indeed leave scaring, also they can get scaring if the jewelery is too long and moves around too much. i have no problem with my own piercings however, and if you have you should talk to your piercer.
