This is a great article but as a body piercer i feel i should point you right about the jewellery types as you have a few things muddled. It is actually easier to care for a barbell than it is for a ring as it is easier to get to all sides of a bar without pulling it through the piercing - which you are not supposed to do. It is not required to turn the jewellery and actually harms the piercing by breaking the healing tissue and grinding dirt into the piercing. The bars also form a fistula (piercing hole) that is straight meaning that when you wear a bar it will lay flat, sometimes healing around a ring means the curved fistula it produces is irritated by bars or that the bars dont sit properly.

The best jewellery for a piercing is titanium not surgical steel.Surgical steel is not a good one to have in a healing piercing as it is an alloy and the nickel contain within it can irritate the piercing. Titanium is in fact the best thing you can be pierced with as it is a pure metal and hypoallergic with no nickel contained within. Even 'nickel free' surgical stainless steel has a % of nickel in it - which if you are allergic to it (As a lot of people are) you will feel the effects of.

Hope that helps you improve things! If you or anyone else wants more info on piercings feel free to visit my site titaniumsenthralled.co.nr which contains cleaning guides and tips and you are more than welcome to ask me any questions!

I got my eye brow done about two weeks ago. I love it! It wasn't as painful as my ear piercings (2 cartilage piercings, and 4 lobe piercings)and it looks really cool too. I have a captive bead ring in it right now, it's my favorite piercing so far!
