Alot of Nautical stars have represented gang's and how many people have died in for what they beleived in, It's also a symbol for freedom, peace, rebellion, and it signifies you stand up for yourself and your beleifs and family and freinds. I'm getting 5 of them on my hip bone in a coupke of mounth's, And 3 on my shoulder. It does'nt really represent lesbian's or any of that. It may have in the past but it does'nt anymore, If it did I would'nt be getting it.

Just got my first tat, a nautical North star. Means always pointing yourself in the right direction. Your guide is always there, your own heart, your own inner voice-they're always there. I am also my family's North star, I never want to forget that.

I have a 2 inch black star behind each ear, I am not Gay. Neither are my sisters who also have a 5 point star tattoo'd on them. ( 1 sister on each of her shoulders and the other on the top of each foot) My sisters play basketball and are often accused of being Gay because the sport they are involved in at the college level. Recently a young gay woman approached my sister because of the tattoo, prior to that incident we had never thought of the star to be a sign of homosexuality. Tattoo's are what you make them, my sisters and I all got tattoo'd as a way to bond and build our "sisterhood". I have 4 other tattos and 7 piercings other then then 5 in each ear (no i am not gothic, I actually work for the police department and am a real girly girl). People who assume your sexuality based apon your choice to decorate or adorn your body are the ones that need/want to research the stero-type of a specific tattoo design. If you like it, you want it, do it, and be happy doing what you want! We only have one life and there is no time to be worried about what other people think !!!

I really like the look of the Nautical Star on top of the wrist and i was very interested in getting one..but the thing is I am not a lesbian or a bisexual and I don't want people to get the idea that i am a lesbian. Would it be a good idea to get it or not?

i have 3 nautical star tattoo's on my lower back and am getting one between my breasts as well, i think that the meaning behind a tattoo should be expressed by the one wearing it, all of mine have great meaning and are very dear to me.

I'm a bisexual and I think the star is gorgeous and has really influenced me. But it is so hard to find lesbian tattoo designs, I just cannot find one that suits me

I have a nautical star on my left arm. Im not gay or a sailor. I got it after a really hard period in my life - right after I had a nervous break down and was released from the mental hospital. My star is there to remind me to aceept guidance from my higher powers and not to let myself become overwhelmed by life.
