Haley, you are right! Prices and regulation vary by state. Thanks for sharing your experience with your piercing. Enjoy your new jewelry!
-- Contributed by: Jodie Michalakyou dont have to be 16, i am 15 and just got my nose pierced. but the county youre in does matter. and it can range in price depending on where you go. i live in the united states and the prices i checked its anywhere from $30 to $60. also in some places you need a state issued ID, a passport, permit, or license plus parental permission if under 18. i got by with just a parent and my school ID. about the piercing, it doesnt hurt a lot to get it done, its like a pinch. but there is some tenderness and soreness for awhile afterwards.
-- Contributed by: haleyLauz, it does depend on the country and regulations, so always check with your local tattoosit or piercer for up to date provisions!
-- Contributed by: Jodie Michalakits more like £25 actually! and you have to be 16 WITH ID. or any age with a parent or guardian. but if ur under 16 and go without ur parents and without id they WONT do it.
-- Contributed by: LauzMad4piercing you have to be 16 to get it done without parental permission, and in most places it is £10
-- Contributed by: daniErm really weird questions here How old do you have to be in the UK to have a nose piercing? How much in the UK does it avergally cost? Thanks
-- Contributed by: Mad4piercingCristy, I have no idea! Please leave all body art and modifications to the professionals!
-- Contributed by: Jodie Michalakdo u know how far you put in teh needle all the way throughh or just in the begining
-- Contributed by: cristyNoses do clear up quickly, try to reinsert daily to keep the piercing from closing. Hope that helps.
-- Contributed by: Jodie MichalakCan i take my nose piercing out for skool
-- Contributed by: KatieWhat if the granuloma forms? How can you get rid of it because im thinking about taking this stud out and calling it a day?
-- Contributed by: NIaif the stud is removed after lets say 2 years and left to close, what does the scarring look like?
-- Contributed by: jessI want to get my nose pierced, but i get hayfever and colds all the time. Do you think this will be an issue ?
-- Contributed by: Courtney .thank you that makes me feel a lot better
-- Contributed by: jacquefayJacquefay, witch hazel is a natural astringent. I would recommend continuing the use. Lavender oil, although it has some calming and antiseptic properites, may irritate it if you have any allergies to the oil. Below the curve of the nostril is fine, as long as it is in the cartilage, feels comfortable, and doesn't impair your breathing. Good luck!
-- Contributed by: Jodie MichalakOh I forgot to add that the piercer told me to use witch hazel. Is this a good Idea, I was also going to try lavender oil or soap, becasue I have been reading a lot this mornign and that seems to be popular.
-- Contributed by: jacquefayIs there a right and wrong place to get your nose pierced? Everywhere I have read it says somewhere along the curve of the nostral. I just got my nose pierced and it is below the curve.
-- Contributed by: jacquefayMy pleasure, just to let you know if anyone needs anymore help or just wants some detailed aftercare information for their piercings my website is now up and running at titaniumsenthralled. co. nr and has a forum you are more than welcome to post on. Best of luck with everything!
-- Contributed by: Ku KuKuku, Thank you so much for contributing to the site and sharing your invaluable information.
-- Contributed by: Jodie MichalakAs a body piercer i have to say i really dispute the information you are giving on this site to do with jewellery types. Surgical steel is not a good one to have in a healing piercing as it is an alloy and the nickel contain within it can irritate the piercing. Titanium is in fact the best thing you can be pierced with as it is a pure metal and hypoallergic with no nickel contained within. Even 'nickel free' surgical stainless steel has a % of nickel in it - which if you are allergic to it (As a lot of people are) you will feel the effects of.
As for the gun vrs needle debate the complications caused by a gun are a lot more worrying than the few you have listed here.
Amanda: You shouldn't have taken it out, nose tissue heals in a matter of minutes you will need to go back to your piercer and see what he can do to help you - i hope you didnt get pierced with a gun as those types of piercers dont tend to have enough training to deal with problems.
Anette. Don't change the stud yourself as i have said the tissue heals in a matter of minutes and if you panic or fiddle you might hurt yourself or not get it back in. You shouldn't change it less than 2 weeks after being pierced as it wont have had time to settle down, but i worry that you've had it done with a gun - meaning you dont have the right type of jewellery in your nose to heal safely. Go to a piercing studio, where they use needles (usually they are in tattoo studios) and ask them to change it to a titanium / PTFE stud or ring.
If you need anymore help please contact me via email at madamku@ymail.com. I am currently setting up a forum for piercing problems with the help of the other piercers working in my studio.
Best of luck Ku xxx
-- Contributed by: Ku Kuomg, never get it pierced with a gun. i got my nose pierced 8/7/08 by a really good piercer. It was 40$ and WELL WORTH IT. he pierced it with a needle. Let me tell you, id rather pay 40 dollars than do it by myself or gunned. Plus, i feel that theres less pain with a needle piercing the pain was minimal. Unlike my ear piercings, which still hurt and ive had em for a long time.
-- Contributed by: Christinahey, i got my nose pierced yesterday, and i took it out just a little to clean around the head, and it started to bleed, alot. so when i tried to push it back through, it wouldnt go all the way through. i can feel it on the inside, but its not completly through. i tried forcing it through but it wont go through! what should i do?
-- Contributed by: amandaHI! i got my nose peirced today (tuesday) with a piercing gun, (now i know thats bad.) and the lady told me that since this stud is so big i can replace it in 24 hours with this other smaller one i bought. i was wondering if thats true. she also has her nose pierced so i sorta trust her.
-- Contributed by: Anetteso i pierced my nose yesterday and it looks ok and everything but i was a little worried because i put a stud with a ball at the end into the hole and it is swollen but a little sore and tender. Normal?
-- Contributed by: oliviaso i got a nose piercing about 3 weeks now as of april 3, 2008 and about 4 days ago a bump came out above my percing. it's like a bump (granuloma) of flesh & i read somewhere once you get that it's impossible to get rid of. & then i also read that just put a hot compress & some saline on it & voila it'll go away on its own. i asked a couple of my friends too....one said he ripped it out & clean it (from his experience it worked), one said she didn't clean it only until she washed her face with a cleanser that contained tea tree oil & about a month it went away, so which one is it ??? it looks very unattractive especially it starts to crust up i don't know how to get rid of it the RIGHT way !! hellllP please!
-- Contributed by: michelleThis article is *INCORRECT*. A proper septum piercing does NOT go through cartilage! Neither does a side-of-the-nose piercing.
-- Contributed by: mei got my nose pierced a few days ago and i took the simple care instructions and its healingg great. .the pericing didnt hurt at all . i changed the p eircing sdtud out of it last night and put the nose pin in and its feels great.
-- Contributed by: MeganI got my nose pierced almost two weeks ago, there i no pus but there is a little redness and some white around the hole. Also I'm not sure if it's because my wisdom teeth are coming in but with in the past couple of days I have had non-stop headaches that feel like there coming from the piercing, should I be worried? and what should I do? what are signs of infections?
-- Contributed by: AliceHi, i got my nose pierced 2 weeks ago, and have had a few problems..i had a nose screw and i pulled it out the other day and could not get it back in, so i went to the piercer and he put in a straight one..the only problem with this is that it comes out really easily. Should i wait a few weeks before i go back to the piercer, to let the piercing heal, so then he can put in a nose screw? or should i put one in as soon as possible? thanks

-- Contributed by: sarah-jayneI have a really good question!Well I wanna get my nose pierced and my type of skin is sensitive so if I were to take it out after the healing period, will it leave a scar or something?
-- Contributed by: Melissai want to get my nose peirced really badly, but my mom said no cuz she said that if you dont want ur nose peirced anymore it leaves a hole in ur nose and its really noticable. but my friends mom had her nose peirced on the right side and wanted it on the left instead and she said it didnt leave a hole at all. she said it depends on ur skin type and i want to know how you can tell whether if it will close up or not. sp please help me. thanks

-- Contributed by: koreyI got my nose periced the day before yesterday. it didnt hurt at first but now it hurts. Is that the sign on infection or is it normal to have some pain the first 2-3 days??
