Travis, I certainly understand your frustration with strangers approaching you about your sleeve work. Many people with foreign language symbols feel the same way when they are asked the nature or meaning of their symbols. Hang in there and take people's intrigue as a compliment! Quite the contrary. For many of us that are heavily tattooed, (myself included.) it is considerably irritating to have complete strangers feel the need to talk to me about my tattoos. It's not uncommon to have people rudely grab my arm to look at my sleeves.

If you're even debating wearing something as faux-pas as corny nylon fake sleeves, you should probably think twice about approaching some unassuming person who has committed to actual sleeves. Either do reasearch, do some contemplation, and get the real thing, or admire from a distance. "Fake" sleeves are demeaning to the nature of tattoos themselves.

BTW, I agree. People are always curious about the nature of tattoos and their meanings...kinda like touching a pregnant woman's belly! :)

Actually, I find it pretty annoying to get approached constantly because of my sleeve. It's often when I'm trying to do something, like eat or shop, so how about changing the last line to "compliments are one thing, but be respectful, as people with tattoos have private lives, as well?"

i have had a few tattoos before but i am now wanting to start a full sleeve, i have loads of ideas but from different themes, for example i want a Koi dragon on it somewhere but in that same area i wish to have some rock 'n roll themed pieces. would this work or woud it look a mess? all my pieces are in black and grey ink. thanks

I am Currently designing several Celtic Themed Tattoo's to make up a sleeve. It may sound stupid but i have alot of great tattoo's designed but I am having a hard time pulling it together so that it will work with an Arm. It is important for me to design my own tattoo. Can you give me any advise on laying out an arm and filling it with Designs
