Angelbell, perfect timing! White tattoos are just starting to get noticed in the industry, and they are a great alternative to black and colored varieties. Good luck finding a personal design!

i never heard about white tattoos before but i have a problem im 14 and i want a tattoo to express myself i know there a better way but i like to do something different like get a tattoo i want people to know the outside of me not the inside

I read that these kinds of tattoos are not great for on the hands, but i really want to have a short italian phrase that my grandmother used to say to me writen on the side of my right hand index finger (between my index and thumb), and i want to do it in white-ink. how much would a tattoo like this fade out, or how visible would it be? I want something that I can have in a business-casual type job, so i dont want it to be able to be seen from across the office, but I want it to be visible enough that I can always see it, as a reminder...

Kaycee, a white ink tattoo makes a very feminine and delicate statement. I would certainly consider going this route, and they are defintaly becoming the new "hot" tattoo style. Wearing a white tattoo will not garner as much attention as a colored piece, which would most defintaly solve your arm piece woes! Even better, you can always add color later if desired, which wouldn't work the other way around. Good luck!

Im 14 and as im getting older im starting to think about tattoo's and pretty sure i want one as my whole family has one.. or two.. Anyway when i turn 18 i want to get a tat but ive been told that girls with tats on their arms make them look butch so i was wondering weither a white ink tat would make a difference as to what they have commented on...

LeeAnne, that's a great question. I would assume white ink would look fabulous on darker skin and really stand out. Why not visit a tattoo shop and set up a consultation to brainstorm ideas? Good luck!

Adeline, do any local shops have some inside recommendations? I would recommend an Internet search triggering the key words, including you city and state. Hope this helps!

I haven't been able to find an artist that will do this. I live in NYC, any suggestions?

Sara, sorry- I haven't heard that. In fact I believe black inkwork to be the most painful, there is usually more pressure involved in the outline work. Good luck!

I've heard that white ink tattoos are more painful than black or colored ink tattoos and was just wondering if this is true or not..

It's something I'd like to know while I'm considering a white ink tattoo..

i am thinking about getting a white ink tattoo on my back but i have slightly pale skin. will this effect the overall appearance of the tattoo in any way?

-- Contributed by: bex

I want all my tattoos to be in white ink and I want a lot of tatoos, haha :P but it sounds like a really complicated type of tattoo to take care of with sun exposure and tracing over a second time to sink the ink in. I have an olive skin tone too, so I'm a bit doubtful about the white ink, but who knows. No pain No game right? I 'll have to have them traced over a lot I guess.

I have very pale skin and I avoid tanning or even exposure to the sun if AT ALL possible. I am a goth model and have had the idea to tattoo my entire body geisha white. As long as the ink takes to my skin okay, can this be done?

Can white ink be injected to remove an exisiting tatoo

-- Contributed by: Shannon

Hi! I got a tatoo on my shoulder, and after two days in the sun one year later, the area where the artist used white ink started to ich and swell. I made sure to use lotion/sun block 20. Will this happen everytime im in the sun for years, or will the ink just fade out after a while? What can I do to prevent this? (exept sunlotion)

my friend just got an ohm symbol in a henna red color on the back of her neck. it looks super subtle and natural ... not to mention really pretty.

I just recently got a tattoo done and it's nice but perhaps too bold. I wanted to know if there was anyway of tattooing white over it (I'm guessing not) my tattoo is dark blue.

Olivia, where di you have your white tattoo done? What steps did you take to ensure you chose the right artist to work in white ink

hi! i want to get a tat on the inside of my wrist but i don't want it in black or anything dark. i'm seeing that white is not ideal for my olive/ medium tan natural skin tone & where my wrist will be exposed to lots of light. i don't want anything to stand out b/c i'm a very not "display-y" kind of chick. all my piercings & other tat are hidden & not obvious. what do you think of hot pink or red or even a darker brown than my skin tone? i want to get "hope" in script w/ a little bumble bee (maybe in black & yellow) trailing after it on my inner wrist. any advice would be MUCH appreciated! thanks! lulu

Hey, I want to get a lotus flower as a tattoo. However, the white lotus is really meaningful to me and I wanted to know if there would be anyway that a tatto artist could use white ink to fill in the flower instead of a color? I would want the edges of the flower outlined in pink but the core of the flower to be white... is this possible?
